Registered Dietitian

Kristine Sinner, MS, RDN, is the Registered Dietitian for TheHealthyWeighOut, providing both group and one-on-one nutrition services to all participants who go through our 6-Week Emotional and Binge Eating Program and a la carte nutrition services. She has been a skilled Registered Clinical Dietitian for over 20 years and has been practicing exclusively within all areas of the spectrum of disordered eating for nearly 30 years. Offering more than just meal plans and menus, Kristine focuses on what she calls the “treatment triad” – the medical, nutritional, and emotional components of eating problems. Using her medical nutrition therapy skills, she helps clients “connect the dots” between their food and weight management issues, so that they can develop a greater understanding of what it takes to finally recover without dieting. She enjoys teaching clients how to eat all foods so that they can disconnect from harmful eating and move more effectively towards normal eating and full recovery

Upon first meeting with a client, Kristine conducts an extensive nutrition assessment and then develops a customized treatment plan that carefully and creatively integrates both the client’s nutritional wants and needs, allowing her to meet her clients wherever they are in the recovery process. Based on years of experience working with individuals, groups, and families in both inpatient and outpatient settings, she provides sound and effective nutrition education and guidance, which includes dispelling myths related to food and body image, intuitive eating, meal planning, shopping, food preparation, kitchen skills coaching, and mealtime observation and support. Additionally, Kristine adheres to a non-dieting philosophy as her nutritional approach to weight management, and has led multiple didactic and experiential groups in support of Health at Every Size (HAES).

Kristine emphasizes trust and safety as the key elements of her nutritional practice. She appreciates the importance of the client’s relationship with his/her treatment team, and enjoys coordinating care with clients’ other treatment providers (e.g., therapist, physician).

After earning her Master’s degree in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics in 1995, Kristine served as the Director of Nutrition for an inpatient and outpatient eating disorder program, while also maintaining a private practice alongside two eating disorder specialists. In 2003, she returned to the valley and since then has dedicated her time and efforts exclusively to eating disorder treatment in inpatient, residential, intensive outpatient (IOP), and outpatient treatment centers. During this time, she has co-authored a nutrition/meal planning patient education manual entitled “Meal Planning Handbook: Strategies, Tips and Techniques; A Practical Handbook for Everyone” to assist individuals with managing the real life challenges of meal purchasing, prepping, and packing meals to support continued success in their recovery.

Kristine earned her undergraduate degrees in both Counseling Psychology and Clinical Nutrition, her pre-professional practice program (AP4), and her graduate degree in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics all from Arizona State University. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietietics (ADA), the ADA practice groups of Weight Management (WM) and Behavioral Health Nutrition (BHN), and is a member of The Central Arizona District Dietetic Association (CADDA).

Kristine’s specialty areas include: compulsive overeating, binge eating disorder (BED), emotional eating, pre- and post-gastric bypass, insulin and non-insulin dependent diabetes, gestational diabetes, metabolic syndrome, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), heart disease, food sensitivities/allergies/intolerances, and healthy weight management/loss.
