Julie T. Anné, Ph.D., is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Eating Disorder Specialist, and the Co-Founder and Clinical Director of TheHealthyWeighOut, LLC. She is also the Founder and Clinical Director of TheHealthyweighOut’s parent company, A New Beginning, LLC, Arizona’s celebrated outpatient treatment center dedicated to the successful resolution of all eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder), emotional eating, night eating syndrome, depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse and marital/relationship issues.

Recognized for her exemplary work in the area of Eating Disorders, Dr. Anné was invited to join the Faculty of Mayo Clinic School of Medicine in 2018.  As a result, Dr. Anné serves as a Consultant and Guest Lecturer in the area of eating disorders for the new medical students of the Scottsdale Mayo Clinic School of Medicine.

For the past 26 years, Dr. Anné has brought her personal brand of passion, skill, and unprecedented hope to the world of eating disorders and emotional eating, providing both clients and professionals with an effective therapeutic road-map to attain the skills, healthy emotional processes, and thorough understanding of the underlying dynamics that drive the compulsion to overeat, to successfully achieve true, lasting change and long-term “Freedom from Food.”

While Dr. Anné wears “many hats” in her multi-faceted professional role, her primary love is the art of psychotherapy. An esteemed clinician, Dr. Anné is known for creating a safe, accepting therapeutic space where her clients are comfortable and free to be who they truly are (many times for the first time in their life), allowing them to explore the many factors that have led to their emotional & binge eating behavior and associated struggles with weight, and to use this understanding to develop new ways to approach their food, their behaviors, and their wonderful self.

In 2014, Dr. Anne′ channeled her passion for helping those struggling with emotional eating & Binge Eating Disorder and her frustration over the dysfunctional way that our nation is addressing the obesity epidemic, into co-creating TheHealthyWeighOut, LLC, a groundbreaking program that is now changing the manner in which chronic issues with weight, emotional eating, and binge eating disorder are being addressed in the United States.

A passionate advocate and spokeswoman for Body Positivity, the prevention of all eating disorders in children, and the need to understand and address the underlying emotional factors that drive compulsive overeating and associated chronic struggles with weight, Dr. Anne´ enjoys changing the dialogue and expanding the level of compassion and understanding our world has for people struggling with issues of weight. Toward this goal, Dr. Anné is oftentimes found inspiring, educating and providing hope to others through media engagements, public speaking events and body-image advocacy work.

Dr. Anné has an absolute affinity for working with individuals across the broad spectrum of disordered eating including;  anorexic, bulimic, emotional overeating, and binge eating disordered clients and especially enjoys working with “late-in-life” individuals, aged 35 –- 80.  Dr. Anné is frequently referred individuals who have “failed” in past treatments and/or who have chronically struggled with their emotional disorders, oftentimes for decades.

In addition to her specialized work with eating disordered individuals, Dr. Anné feels passionately about helping those who have experienced childhood trauma and/or neglect to heal and to create the self and the life they so deserve. In this capacity, Dr. Anné works extensively with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, the aftereffects of psychological trauma, dysfunctional family-of-origin history, and couples seeking to regain a sense of lost joy in their relationship.  Dr. Anné is a formally trained EFT Couples and Marital Therapist and enjoys using EFT as one of her therapeutic approaches to the healing and restoration of intimacy in relationships.

Dr. Anné received her Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology – San Diego and her bachelor’s degree and doctoral clinical training from Arizona State University. Dr. Anné’s extensive clinical experience includes facilitating individual, group, marital and family psychotherapy in inpatient and outpatient settings; program development; consultation, clinical training and supervision; community education and outreach; psychoeducation; and research. Dr. Anné has been board licensed in the state of Arizona since 1993.
